FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
As a quickly expanding group, we have decided it is time to answer all of the burning questions that we get over and over (hell pun intended). The answers are based on our UK group. Therefore it should be noted that they represent us, and not The Satanic Temple as a whole. This FAQ is meant to be informative while conveying our fun-loving and welcoming nature. Make no mistake, we are passionate about Satanism and have courage in our convictions.
Where in the UK are you based?
We aren't based in one city. As a group, we have decided that in the interest of accessibility we will not have just one meeting place. Instead, we plan on having meetings all over. That's right! Satanists may be coming soon to a pub near you!
Do you worship Satan?
No, worshipping Satan is so pre-science-ago. We believe in science, not the supernatural.
Are you an official chapter?
Yes we are! We were made an official chapter in September 2019.
I signed up to TST on their website and paid for a certificate/card, does that make me an official member of the UK chapter?
No, it makes you a member of TST but it does not make you an official member of the UK chapter. The process isn't the same and requires a different level of commitment (e.g. attending events/meetups and being active in the community). Only the leadership team of the UK can grant membership to this chapter.
Can I make my own UK TST group?
No, at the present time, and for the foreseeable future, there will not be any city specific chapters. The official UK chapter covers the whole of the United Kingdom.
Why is there a need for a TST chapter in the UK?
The Satanic Temple is not just about activism, it is a religion with a set of beliefs that we ourselves feel passionate about. While we believe that the work The Satanic Temple does is revolutionary in the face of theocracy, it would be incorrect to say that chapters are only needed in places in which discrimination against religious beliefs occurs. We therefore do not feel that we should need to justify having a community of Satanists.
